What is Kabaddi?

Kabaddi is a high-energy, contact team sport that originated in India and has gained popularity worldwide. Played in a rectangular arena, the game lasts 40 minutes (two 20-minute halves) between two teams. The main goal is for a player, called the “raider”, to enter the opponent’s half, tag defenders, and return safely to their side without being tackled. 1. 1. Lobby:

• The extended area on the court that becomes active only when the raider tags a defender.
• This additional space allows both raiders and defenders to score points or prevent escapes.

• Becomes active when there are 6 or 7 defenders on the court.
• The raider earns 1 bonus point by stepping over the bonus line with one foot while keeping the other foot airborne, provided they return successfully.

• When 3 or fewer defenders are on the court, tackling the raider is termed a “super tackle”.
• A successful super tackle earns 2 points: 1 for eliminating the raider and an extra point for the challenging effort.

1. 4. Do or Die Raid:

• If a team fails to score in two consecutive raids, the third raid becomes a “do or die” raid.
• If the raider fails to score, they are declared out.

• If all defenders are eliminated in a single raid, it’s called an “all out”.
